YES there were TWO side Mirrors on Ecto-1!!\And the Short Antenna on the right fender!!Īlso Ecto-1 had Two Larger Whip antennas. P-L kit does Not have the Standard Caddy side Mirror, or AM radio antenna!!

AMT ECTO 1A MODEL MOVIE

ONLY the Baby Moons were Chrome in the Movie the rims were White!īoth give us Incorrect Spotlight mounts and omit the side Mirror from the Spotlight

amt ecto 1a model

AMT gave us Chrome Reverse rimes with Baby Moons. So AMT kit is the Best to start with for that alone!!!īoth kits have errors. While the rest are in VERY Dark gray/black (BARELY transluscent Here Polar-Lights has the windshield & front doors in clear, Harold Ramis & Bill Murry looking at where they are going in the WILD ride/Turn!!! This is Easily seen in the interior shots while enroute to a call With Upper & lower section tinted gray/dark

AMT ECTO 1A MODEL WINDOWS

I do not think the scribed line in the window piece is for Standard Ambualnce tintingīoth Movies show a Clear Band in the side & tailgate (rear door) windows I still need to the correct Stock Cadillac Hubcaps for her, and to tint the windows. Here is my Photobucket album for Ecto-1 & 1A The 1A of the second movie had the Step Bumper

amt ecto 1a model

The AMT kit has ONLY the Step Bumper as that was how the car was Modified for the second Movie!Įcto-1 in the first movie had a Standard rear Bumper I was Not able to do that for the larger lenses surrounding the backup lights!! I Cut the 4 Bullitts off the rear bumper on my P-L kit!!! I only have the PL version, the above is based on comments from the thread.Īctually, The tail lights are Chrome in the P-L kit as they are part of the rear bumper!!

AMT ECTO 1A MODEL FULL

AMT and PL are curb sides with a promo style bottom plate, Monogram is full detail. PL has molded in strobes in the grill, AMT has a stock grill, Monogram has the best grill.ĪMT has separate clear red tail lights, PL has white plastic molded in tail lights. AMT may include a stock rear bumper as well, not sure about that. PL has the correct stock rear bumper, AMT has a non stock step bumper. Skimming through quickly depending on how detailed you want to get it looks like you may want both the PL and AMT to build an ambulance, maybe even throw in a Monogram Eldorado if you want to go full detail. I like the stock rear bumper in the Polar Lights kit and am trying to figure out if that's a good enough reason to get the Polar Lights kit instead of the AMT. I should have asked if the main parts, body, chassis, interior, windows. But if fun is what you are after and you are up for a challenge then this has a rewarding payoff. Thanks Jon! However I'm interested in one to build as something other than the Ecto 1.

AMT ECTO 1A MODEL PROFESSIONAL

That was created by a professional builder and it is doubtful your results will come close to that. Downside is that the going prices for these mean that you are gambling a bit if you are a novice builder, your results are NOT apt to resemble the image on the box. If you take your time and move things slowly you should be left with a pretty nice looking car to display. Either level, you will want to do a lot of surfing the web for images to guide your build to increase accuracy of the details, colors, etc. If you are not very experienced then understand the instructions for this kit are not the best. If you are an experienced model builder you will navigate most of the difficulties with relative, though time consuming, ease. Many of the parts do not fit together (pegs too big for holes etc) As a model goes it is ok, not good, not great. A few of the details are not correct for one who wants EXACT movie specs for the Ecto 1a from GB II. I enjoy building models and as glue-together models go this one disappoints on a number of levels. Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned Perhaps a potential buyer will see an ambulance possibility with the interior chopped down, and a Limosine possibility for the Chassis. I will sell the kit interior/chassis, as it is too long and specialized to even use in a Suburban build.

AMT ECTO 1A MODEL PRO

The V12’s will each have 7” Pro Chargers and straight pipes. I’m creating a Hearse and calling it “Undertaker”. I just spray adhesive on th e narrow tires, then roll them in Baby Powder. Now I could put my baby moons to good use. Now, what do you do with a 2 V12 ‘59 Caddy ambulance ? Make it a Salt Flat Racer. What better cradle and body ? I had to modify the Alison wheelbase, as the kit body was a ‘65 Thunderbird. I already had a frame from an Alison V12 that I was saving for a Hydrogen Peroxide Rocket car. Even on a Lightning they would look ridiculous because the closest that airplanes get to 1:25th scale is 1/32nd, a few scales smaller, or G scale. I don’t build airplanes, and the engines would have been huge, awkward, and overscale. What to do with a ‘59 Caddy ambulance ? Build by the kit ? I’m not that vanilla.
